too quiet. too empty. too much space.

Losing a beloved animal changes everything—the sounds, the rhythm, the way your heart beats.

You don’t have to learn the new rhythm alone.

You don’t have to grieve alone.

Right now, everything feels unbearable:

Friends don’t understand—or they’ve stopped calling.

This isn’t weakness. This isn’t you “failing at grief.”
It’s love, aching for somewhere to land.

Grief is love with nowhere to go.

Meet Donna Carlson

"I know this ache—and I know the way through."

Grief is not an idea to me. It’s something I’ve lived. I have lost beloved husbands, pets, and horses. I know what it’s like for your world to collapse into silence, for everything familiar to suddenly feel unbearable.

That’s why I created Soul & Tail Collective. That's why I’m a certified grief and pet loss coach and a doctoral student in Animal Communication.

My Mission

Teach and educate on the importance of animals and how they help us heal.

Animals are not “just pets”—they are healers, teachers, and mirrors. And when they leave us, they don’t just leave absence—they leave us with an invitation to live differently, more deeply, more aligned.

Here, your grief is not minimized. Here, the love you shared is honored as sacred. Together, we’ll walk the path of grief not as an ending, but as a passage into wholeness.

From Grief to Joy

“When I met Donna, I was feeling hopeless with grief. After six months of healing, I’m hopeful with joy.

I learned to let myself feel the difficult emotions I’d been hiding from and to face them with the healing strength of the herd. Once I could do that, I began to move through my grief.

I opened my broken heart one more time to receive the healing Donna offered—and I’m so glad I did.

I am forever grateful for this life-transforming experience.”

Kindness & Light

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Donna. When we first reached out after losing our beloved dog, Chachi, we hoped only for a bit of ease.

Donna immediately understood our sadness. Her attentiveness, compassion, and wisdom allowed us to be vulnerable and to begin finding peace.

She reminded us that Chachi knew he was loved and admired, and her guidance brought comfort and hope back into our days.

Thank you, Donna, for your kindness and the light you shared with us during such a difficult time.”

Renewed Gratitude

“As a veterinarian, I’ve experienced many losses—professionally and personally. Losing my soul dog, Roscoe, one day before his 13th birthday, when I was already struggling with depression, shattered me.

Having known Donna through personal coaching, I trusted her grace and her work with her therapy horses. When she began offering pet-loss support, I knew she could help me process the grief and guilt I still carried.

Before our session, I was anxious about what I might feel. Donna immediately put me at ease. As she coached me through my grief, I left with renewed gratitude for the time and love Roscoe and I shared.

I now feel Roscoe’s presence more clearly, and it brings me comfort and joy.

Donna is an amazing coach. I’m so thankful for her dedication to healing the human-animal bond.”
